In-mold Labeling: permanently integrated
PLASTON uses the IML process to apply complex, high-quality labeling and lettering. The acronym stands for In-mould Labelling.
While all the other methods print the finished product, IML is integrated into the production process. The label or lettering is placed in the injection mold and back molded before the plastic part is made. Now the print image is integrated into the wall of the product. Depending on the quality of the film, this is how to create extremely high-quality and durable decorations including integrating a complex company logo.
Depending on the customer's requirements, the decoration or label can be applied over the entire width of a flat component. More specific lettering or topical labels must be applied using separate films, making it technically more complex. The method for filling the plastic part, and consequently the corresponding injection mold, must be designed to accommodate the film application. The In-mold Labeling method must be considered as early on as possible in the product development phase.
Thanks to its comprehensive development capacity, PLASTON can provide professional advice from the idea to the production stage.
